There are six committees providing leadership for the National PKU Alliance. They would greatly benefit from the time and talents of the Grand Power population. Do your skills and interests fit one or more of these committees?
This committee solicits and reviews research proposals and reports their findings to the Board. It also recommends an overall research strategy to the Board and works with researchers to pursue research projects or to modify existing projects in a way that will most benefit those with PKU. Sign up here.
This committee is responsible for nominating individuals and establishing the policies and criteria for nominations of At-Large Directors. It is also responsible for recruiting members. Personal contact will be a very important part of this process. Sign up here.
This committee establishes criteria for hiring, performance and evaluation of the Executive Director and other employees of NPKUA. The personnel Committee will monitor hiring, benefits, compensation and evaluations for all personnel. Grandparents with knowledge and experience of these issues would be a big help! Sign up here.

This committee works with professional firms on a public relations campaign. It serves as the Launch Committee, handling much of the communication between the NPKUA and the rest of the PKU community. This is accomplished through the posting of press releases to related websites, the Emory University PKU list-serve, clinics and local organizations. The Public Relations committee is in the process of creating an expanded website. Sign up here.
This committee works with the treasurer on the funding of all NPKUA operations. The Funding Committee will be raising money for programs, operations and research. Grant proposal writing and networking will be a big part of the job. A perfect place for grandparents with related experience and connections! Sign up here.
This committee advocates for PKU favorable local and national legislation and insurance coverage. It also advocates for newborn screening for PKU and other disorders. The Advocacy Committee will coordinate with other metabolic disorder national organizations to advocate for issues of common interest. Grandparents make great advocates! Sign up here. |
